Soundproofing is the means of reducing sound pressure within an environment in two specific ways;
Noise Reduction - in which the path of a sound wave is blocked using a combination of distance
and intervening objects (the SOUND of a footstep).
Noise Absorption - in which the echo, reverberation and resonance of a sound wave is transformed
(the VIBRATION of a footstep).
This reduction and absorption is achieved by fitting specialized acoustic elements such as floors,
ceilings and wall linings.
